Location: Evanston, IL
Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm
Required Travel: Occasional travel to Endeavor Hospitals as needed (Skokie, Highland Park, etc.)

Summary of Employment Description:
The Research Assistantship is an appointment via the Vice Chairperson of Research and Education in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at NorthShore University HealthSystem. Under the supervision of a regular faculty member conducting the research project, the Research Assistant (RA) is responsible for assisting the faculty member in a variety of non-administrative tasks, which may include preparing resources, equipment, materials for the research, documenting results, etc. in support of the research activities. Research projects should ideally lead to publications in medical journals. The research project is intended to provide the opportunity to learn proper research procedures and techniques. The supervising faculty is responsible for providing ongoing feedback and a formal assessment at the conclusion of the assistantship.

What you will do:
Research and collects data through complex techniques and procedures, library research, structured interviews, or other project specific methodology.
Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data.
Schedules, organizes, and reports on status of research activities.
Plans and modifies research techniques, procedures, tests, equipment, or software management.
Writes and edits materials for publication and presentation.
Meets with faculty supervisor on regular basis to maintain ongoing communication regarding the quality of the assistant's performance.
Performs other related duties as required.
Gain experience in observing perioperative clinical medicine in the operating room, intensive care, and pain medicine clinic.

Qualifications and Desired Skills:
The student must be enrolled in or completed an undergraduate degree.
The student should have prior experience in medical research or an interest in clinical based medical care.
The student needs the ability to work independently, accurately, and to problem solve technical and methodological issues that arise during the course of the research.
The student will require the ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology and logical critical analysis. Strong organization and interpersonal skills are highly desired.
The student must be able to devote at least 8 hours, 4 days per week for the duration of the employment.
The student must be able to be proficient in Microsoft office programs.
The student will be expected to complete CITI Training and any other training related to NorthShore's IRB expectations prior to being involved with research.
The student will be expected to follow all health and safety protocols as designated by the NorthShore University HealthSystem Employee Health. All vaccinations are required to be up to date. The student will need to provide proof of vaccination prior to initiation of employment.
