Job Description

Capitol Strategies Consulting, Inc in Springfield, IL is seeking Sr. Storage Administrators to apply knowledge of database administration & computer information systems theories, principles and concepts, as well as experience with storage administration operations to perform the following duties: 
 
1.   Oversee, administer and manage storage operations in a heterogeneous SAN/Blue arc NAS storage in huge environment distributed into multiple datacenters consisting of HDS/HP and EMC arrays and Cisco, Brocade fabric. 
2.   Dynamic pool creations and thin provisioning to ARE/Windows/Unix hosts and RAID configurations for OPEN Systems from HDS USPVM/VSP. 
3.   Monitor the Storage Subsystems for any performance issues on a daily basis and performed the tuning if needed using the HDS Tuning Manager. 
4.   Monitor HNAS system thresholds and took proactive measure to prevent outages. 
5.   Perform switch related maintenance activities such as Module replacements. 
6.   Assign the SAN Storage LUNs to Servers from Hitachi USP/USP-V/VSP/AMS to open systems and trouble shoot all storage issues related to LUNs assignment. 
7.   Troubleshooting HDS/HP errors and connectivity issues with SAN fabric consists of Cisco MDS Switches working with vendors to fix or replace the hardware. 
8.   Lead role in Cisco DMM migration for servers from USP/USP-V to new VSP storage subsystems. 
9.   Perform day to day troubleshooting tasks for SAN environment. 
10.   Work on reclamation of unused storage using performance reports. 
11.   Schedule and monitor the firmware upgrades for HDS and HP storage arrays. 
12.   Installation, administration and troubleshoot of multipath software on open systems. 
13.   Generate reports through storage scope with relevant to capacity planning, 
14.   Trouble shooting with path failing / zone modifications. 
15.   Coordinating with business ends for resolving issues relevant to SAN. 
16.   On-call support for SAN infrastructures and storage services. 


Minimum requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Database Administration, Computer Science, Computer Applications or related field and at least five (5) years of post-degree, progressively responsible experience in job-offered or related position(s). 
 
Qualified applicant must also have demonstrable proficiency, skill, experience and knowledge with the following: 
1.   Storage provisioning tasks such as Zoning & LUN security; 
2.   Allocated storage to heterogeneous hosts; 
3.   SAN Fabric Zoning on Cisco MDS Switches/Brocade fabric (CLI/Fabric manager); 
4.   Thin provisioning creations and RAID configurations;  
5.   Design/planning/managing VERITAS Netback Manager Server; 
6.   Troubleshooting HP/EVA errors and connectivity issues with SAN fabric. 
 
No travel. Job duties are project-based and performed on long-term assignments at various unanticipated sites within the U.S. which may require relocation at the end of each project.
