Job Description
1. Deliver goods while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states.
2. Take orders for new deliveries.
3. Drive long distances.
4. Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows.
5. Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
6. Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
7. Follow all applicable traffic laws.
8. Inspect trailer before and after the trip; record any found defects.
9. Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
10. Keep a log of their activities.
11. Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
12. Keep truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order.
13. Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking.
14. Get goods to client on time.
15. Take rest periods during trips.
16. Transport hazardous materials.
17. Take special precautions while driving.
18. Buy or lease trucks from other companies.
19. Find and keep clients.
20. Maintain trip log.
