POSITION SUMMARY

The experienced instructor will teach undergraduate evening classes in mental health nursing. The role includes developing curriculum, delivering lectures, and providing academic support to students. The instructor will also engage in scholarly activities and contribute to the department's goals and objectives. Participate in appropriate departmental meetings. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning. Possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter necessary to the assigned course load and keep informed of current trends in the field of nursing and health care. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission. Teach classes during non-traditional times (evenings and weekends). Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Current Illinois Licensure as R.N. Recent work experience in nursing.
3. Collegiate mental health theoretical teaching experience.
3. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
5.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation, and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Teaching experience at the collegiate level.
2. Experience at the community college level.
3. Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs. 4. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
5. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
6. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

Standard classroom equipment and software. Standard hospital equipment and software.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Classroom teaching environment.

WORKING SCHEDULE
Nursing adjuncts are hired on an as-needed basis. These needs are related to student enrollment and can fluctuate from semester to semester.
