Job Summary
Elmhurst University invites applications for two adjunct/non-tenure track faculty positions in the Music Department with background in vocal performance. Additional specialized background in diction, light opera, or musical theater is a plus. Main responsibilities include teaching weekly private voice lessons.
Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential is essential. Candidates should have a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environments for a diverse student body.
Essential Functions
The teaching load is 15-plus individual student lessons per semester with the possible addition of one class each semester based on the candidate's background and expertise. Responsibilities for this adjunct faculty position may include course preparation including syllabus development, teaching, grading and being available to students who have questions or require extra help.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs other teaching-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in vocal performance or pedagogy.
Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student body and contributing positively to an inclusive campus community.
Preferred Qualifications
Training or background in teaching at the undergraduate college level.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sometimes but not always sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
