JOB SUMMARY

Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Database Analytics and Architecture – Corporate Systems. This role is part of the team focused on building out our next generation cloud-based data, analytics, and machine learning platform. Appropriate candidates have a passion for data and emerging technologies with a vision for building next generation capabilities and a strong drive for success.

In this role you will function as a technical expert on data modelling and data architecture for HR and Payroll and enterprise data. You will perform research, analysis, design, and development on a wide range of next generation data capabilities and products. You will set technical standards and develop reusable frameworks to ensure consistent and efficient creation of data capabilities and products.

You will assume technical ownership of Service Provider deliverables and lead their technical resources to ensure deliverables are of high quality, follow our technical standards & best practices and perform at scale.

In addition, you will research emerging technologies that will provide future capabilities as well as seek solutions for complex technical issues. You will make decisions on complex, non-routine requests to support analytics based decisioning by Marriott business teams.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

+ 8+ years of experience in data strategy, data management, data preparation supporting Oracle on premise or cloud analytics applications.

+ 8+ years’ hands on experience developing large scale data pipelines and applications for enterprises at scale.

+ 4+ years’ technical delivery ownership of large-scale data pipelines and applications.

+ 2+ years’ experience in migrating data platforms/applications.

+ Extensive experience with data architecture, data modeling and effective and optimized data management, storage and pre-processing for analytics.

+ Extensive experience managing and building efficient data structures with feeds from internal and external sources.

+ Experience designing and solutioning high performance data ingestion frameworks for faster loads and availability.

+ Experience managing big data solutions using leading data warehouse/data lake platforms.

+ Experience designing data security solutions within a data warehouse environment.

+ Deep knowledge of and ability to develop, run, review and tune SQL scripts to retrieve and analyze data.

+ Deep knowledge and proven ability to create materialized views and manage SQL snapshots, data partitioning and tablespace management.

+ Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in Oracle Databases (OBIEE, ADW, ATP) and follow through to a resolution.

+ Ability to review and manage Cost and Usage analysis of Oracle Cloud Databases.

+ Ability to learn modern technologies and adopt new technologies to streamline and simplify ETL processes.

+ Experience with Cloud and micro-services architectures.

+ Strong communication skills.

+ Production support experience.

+ Oracle Certification(s).

+ Bachelor of Science or Equivalent degree in Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Graduate degree

+ Understanding and experience of Oracle HCM Cloud Data Model.

+ Relevant experience with Payroll data and Financial Data Modelling.

+ Expertise in Oracle HCM Cloud analytics and Reports. Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, define, and assess Reports in Oracle HCM Cloud using OTBI reporting, HCM Extracts and BIP reporting tools.

+ Knowledge of related Oracle applications like Oracle Analytics Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure PaaS.

+ Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database and Data Warehouse.

+ Strong understanding of Oracle HCM Cloud Global HR product capabilities, Business Objects, Business Object Relationships, seeded processes and system dependencies.

+ Experience with Airflow, Python

+ Experience with Data Governance Tools.

+ Experience with Hashicorp Tokenization Products.

+ Experience in agile software methodologies.

+ Demonstrated ability to anticipate future data platform opportunities.

+ Technology leadership experience in a sourced environment.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Technical Leadership

+ Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate

Delivering Technology

+ Oversee and validate Service provider led implementations to Provision, configure, and perform rapid start implementations of Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) and Data Warehouse (OBIA).

+ Install, configure and customize Oracle’s pre-built analytics applications.

+ Understand business needs and use cases and customize delivered Oracle Analytics functionality to meet customer’s analytics reporting needs.

+ Understand and oversee data load using Oracles integration and ETL tools.

+ Analyze, cleanse and load data.

+ Configuring out of the box functionality.

+ Analyze and organize customer data and build reports/dashboards to meet requirements.

+ Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.

+ Supports existing applications and large projects in a minimum of one environment.

+ Review and enhance reports, ETLs, extract queries for optimized performance.

+ OCI Administration, System administration and Exadata console management for capacity scaling.

+ Architect reporting and system design including database architecture and modeling for optimized reporting experience.

+ Prepare and provide guidelines for effective data source management and extracts across environments.

+ Data warehouse management including architecture, security, microservices, materialized views and partitioning as needed.

+ Plan, architect and design efficient automation and integrations across HCM, PaaS and OIC.

+ Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams.

+ Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels.

IT Governance

+ Follows all defined IR standards and processes (i.e., IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed.

+ Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk.

+ Follows the defined project management standards and processes.

Service Provider, COTS, and Custom Application Management

+ Lead prioritization meetings with stakeholders and drive resolution of changes through the process for portfolio of supported applications

+ Coordinate and track the delivery of highly visible operational activities/problems.

+ Groom backlog of features and changes with stakeholders

+ Validates that Service Providers and internal teams develop and manage respective aspects of a project plan, including schedules, deliverables, and appropriate metrics.

+ Makes short term plans for the team to effectively utilize resources.

+ Monitors Service Provider and internal team’s outcomes.

+ Reviews estimates of work effort for client project provided by Service Providers and internal teams for accuracy.
