Medical Bill Processor

Job Description: Responsible for the processing of medical bills. To code and process provider and hospital bills. Enter pre-coded billing data into the system and verify the output.

Skills & Knowledge

+ Excellent written communication skills.

+ PC literate, including Microsoft Office products: Outlook Email.

+ Analytical and interpretive skills.

+ Strong organizational skills

+ Good interpersonal skills

+ Ability to work in a team environment.

+ Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.

+ Type 45 WPM

+ Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Form 1500, UB04 forms, and medical revenue coding.

+ Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

Duties

+ Keys pre-coded billing data into the billing system.

+ Identifies and forwards complex bills to claims examiners.

+ Codes provider bills in accordance with claims management system notes and state guidelines.

+ Follows workers’ compensation/auto guidelines to evaluate the services.

+ Compares qualifications of the service provider with service provided.

+ Involved in system maintenance/file maintenance and interface with IT department.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ Supports the organization’s quality program(s).

Education

High School diploma and/or equivalent.

Experience

One (1) year of general office experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Work Environment

Physical: Computer keyboarding

Auditory/Visual: Hearing, vision, and talking.

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $15.00 – $17.50 . A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
