Description:

This position is responsible for the day-to-day administrative, programmatic and human resources operations of the School of Literatures, Cultural Studies and Linguistics. Initiates and assists in the development and implementation of policies which effect curriculum development, course planning, program assessment, and faculty affairs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Director, the Associate Director and the Executive Officers, conceptualize and initiate programmatic and curricular development at the undergraduate and graduate level. This includes revising current academic programs and developing new programs.
Oversee the scheduling of courses, monitoring course availability, coordinating courses among the units within the School, and monitoring enrollment.
In collaboration with departmental Executive Officers, oversee and coordinate teaching assignments of lecturers, TAs and faculty. Make recommendations for hiring, long-term planning, and programming.
Analyze data and trends; Prepare reports and projections and makes recommendations.
Assist in drafting proposals for new program initiatives.
Monitor program assessment for all majors and minors. Make recommendations for changes and improvement.
Oversee the placement testing process for the School and liaise with LAS advising as needed.
Develop and direct fundraising initiatives and outreach to potential donors, foundations, alumni, cultural institutions, ethnic organizations.
In collaboration with the Director, research, write and present reports to consortia and professional academic organizations.
Write, edit, and/or distribute hardcopy and electronic promotional materials, letters, grant proposals, applications, and School newsletter. Oversee the content of departmental and school web pages.
Prepare all promotion and tenure cases and mid-probationary reviews.
Review and process sabbatical applications, tenure-roll back applications; sabbatical reports.
Oversee implementation of faculty searches for tenure, clinical and visiting faculty.
Oversee faculty grievance process.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree.
