Job Description:
Site Controls Technicians are primarily responsible for the day-to-day support of the site Instrumentation & Electrical equipment, and Factory Controls & IT systems. Additionally, they will help execute the strategy for Factory Controls & IT Asset Health Check Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports operational team with day to day improvement and troubleshooting of software applications and PLC controls with maximum focus on increased reliability
- Electrical and controls support for operations and maintenance
- Interpret and maintain electrical schematics
- Implement small scope projects in assigned areas
- Identify, design and implement controls improvement solutions
- Interface with contractors, vendors, engineering, maintenance and operations
- Perform root cause analysis on process interruptions
- Work with engineering on specific electrical and or controls projects from design to startup, including HMI and PLC programming, installation, checkout, start-up and training
- Provide the on shift - plant wide support (including overtime coverage for vacancies) for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolution of Level I (PLC/Servos) and Level II (HMI) system related problems
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks PDM
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze and test applications for Factory Control & IT systems. Good understanding of Operating Systems environments including Microsoft Windows PC and Server Operating systems, Active Directory, other Microsoft technologies, and thin-client technologies
QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Training:
- Must have High School Diploma
- Associate of Applied Science in electrical / electronic or related technical training preferred
- Industrial controls training / certification preferred
Industrial Technical Experience:
- 5 years industrial maintenance experience desired
- 5 years industrial controls experience desired
Software Systems Experience:
- MSSQL Databases
- PLC Programming
- Rockwell/AB ControlLogix plc programming experience
- HMI software
- Rockwell / AB panel view
- Wonderware/AVEVA HMI development experience
- Computer operating systems
- Virtual PC environments
- Batching process control systems
Hardware Systems Experience:
Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and upgrade the following:
- Plant Controls Ethernet Network
- Plant Controls PLC Networks
- Computer Hardware
- Programmable Logic Controllers
- Various other controls devices (Servos, VFDs, instrumentation, etc.)
- Instrumentation devices
- Loadcells
- Flow meters
- Pressure transmitters
- Temperature RTD's
- Motors, motor control circuits, power distribution systems up to 600 VAC
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and self-directed capability
- Demonstrated capability in the following controls systems
- Electricity & motor controls including
- Variable Frequency Drives
- Servo Axis Motion Controllers/Drives
- Soft Motor Starters
- Mechanical Motor Starters
- Motor control centers
- Hard wired electrical circuit troubleshooting
- Controls & instrumentation including
- Digital/Analog control and monitoring
- Solid state relays and switches
