What You Will Do

The Global Trade Compliance Agent assists with technical support activities for procedures related to international trade agreements, U.S. and foreign Customs regulations, and other government agency requirements affecting imports and exports. They advise on import/export regulatory matters and interface with customs brokers and freight forwarders to communicate customs requirements. This role also responds to inquiries and internal notices regarding U.S. Customs, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Commerce and other governmental bodies' rules, regulations, changes, and opinions.
  • Review HTS tariff classifications and work with team to optimize compliance and duty savings.
  • Review processes and Customs entries for completeness and compliance.
  • Work with Customs to identify proper classifications through the Tariff Classification system.
  • Work in conjunction with divisional engineers and product teams to determine appropriate import tariff number and export classification and licensing determination.
  • Collaborate with forwarders and brokers to ensure that all export documentation is properly prepared and maintained.
  • Assist with the design, deployment, and enhancement of global trade management systems.
  • Analyze and determine appropriate tariff classifications for new products.
  • Provide general guidance and direction on import and export trade compliance requirements and international trade matters.
  • Work any other projects assigned.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree required or relevant equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Trade Compliance, Customhouse Brokerage, or International Freight Forwarding environment.
  • Licensed US Customs Broker a plus.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations, foreign trade regulations, tariff classifications, anti-dumping, trade agreements, duty drawback.
  • Strong background in navigating ACE for audit and filing purposes.
  • General knowledge of concepts and terms used in Transportation, Warehousing and Distribution operations.
  • Experience with Global Trade Management software a plus.
