Summary: The Associate Director of Information Technology (IT), together with the Chief Information Officer, oversees the work of the IT Department. This position provides day-to-day administrative direction and oversight of key technology/information systems and general support activities. This candidate works with key stakeholders to formulate a comprehensive technology plan that is consistent with the overall business objectives and budgetary considerations of the organization. Implements policies and analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and decisions.
This exempt position oversees the Senior Manager, Strategic Applications and reports to the Chief Information Officer in the Department of Information Technology. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.
Responsibilities:
Core Focus: Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and overall security; oversee operational processes and procedures, including backup architecture, WAN/LAN, and server diagrams; manage web applications, web-based APIs, and related applications; secure and manage escrow of admin-level accounts for business continuity; enforce IT policies on system availability, account management, DEVOPS; and ensure compliance with data retention policies.


Collaboration: Meet with the departments to address IT needs and provide solutions (monthly and quarterly); actively participate in monthly key operations team meetings; meet daily with technical support and Aptify support teams to enhance customer service metrics; communicate and manage open request/ticket status with key stakeholders daily; lead rapid assessment teams to resolve service interruptions and conduct post-event root cause analysis; develop and lead Innovation Center of Excellence for ACS; and foster collaboration opportunities with the PMO/BA/Developers within the IT Department.


Assessment and Development: Conduct stakeholder interviews to develop strategic IT plans for software and hardware, including ACS servers and cloud solutions; evaluate infrastructure and create life-cycle plans for hardware/software migrations and application sunsetting; collaborate with ACS stakeholders to assess and manage the life-cycle of web-based applications, including National Cancer Data Base, Trauma, and Continuous Quality Improvement; and assist in planning the technology and cost estimates for business projects across the college.


Budget and Expenses: Assist the CIO in managing the IT departmental budget; develop sections of the annual expense and capital budget; review and advise on monthly budget variances; meet with internal IT staff to draft the annual IT budget; monitor and track budget expenditures to ensure alignment with financial goals; provide financial analysis and reporting to support budget planning and decision-making; collaborate with stakeholders to identify budget needs and prioritize spending; and assist in the preparation of budget presentations for executive management.


Development and Performance: Oversee aspects of the DEVOPS software life cycle, including project specifications, coding, quality assurance testing, go-live, and availability management; manage the software development team, providing mentorship in Microsoft.NET development best practices; engage with the software development team throughout the business analysis, development, quality assurance, and launch processes; conduct "lessons learned" exercises with the software team, business analysts, and project managers after QA and go-live phases; ensure adherence to agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices; collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software development projects with business objectives...
