Our customer in the transportation industry is looking for a Sr. Android Developer who can support a Development Project for an application used on tablets and phones by bus drivers. This application helps prevent and mitigate accidents and minimizes risk both pre ensures the safety measures and precautions both pre-trip and post-trip.

• Develop and support mobile applications used for daily operations by bus drivers.

• Work with QA to fully test the application onsite by going to nearby locations.

• Build new application components as enhancements to the existing application by utilizing the latest technologies.

• Work heads down but also collaborate with team to write test scripts and perform unit testing/regression testing.

• Design, process, and integrate mobile front with backend systems using API endpoints.

• Work with business to fully understand the business requirements, convert into technical specifications.

• Follow Scrum Agile process for workflow management.

• Work independently (come into this role with minimal training)

• Help run 2-week sprints and participate in lunches for every new sprint.

Skills and Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience having architected, designed, and developed multiple Android applications across multiple versions using JAVA and/or Kotlin.

• Proficient in building Android mobile applications, utilizing web services (REST, HTTP-based, XML, SOAP, JSON or other services).

• Experience applying Google’s best practices for mobile environments, i.e., networking, memory management, battery status, responsive and intuitive design, managing multiple screen sizes, identifying app installations, internationalization.

• Experience in creating applications supporting both phone and tablet.

• Fully conversant with OOP principles, software development frameworks and mobile-targeted design patterns like MVP and MVVM.

• Proficient with multiple IDEs tailored for Android Development (Android Studio, Eclipse).

• Experience with Android SDK versions 5 and above.

• Strong knowledge in Agile development environments working on development teams.

• Experience in using Azure DevOps in a continuous build development process for Android mobile application development.

• Passion for mobile user experience and design, constantly learning and keeping up to date on happenings and changes in the field.

• Great professional communication skills, including formal presentations and technical documentation and productive in both team-based and self-managed projects. null
