Job Summary
Sr. Manager - ColorWorks is a dynamic leadership role encompassing all design planning and supervision activities of the two ColorWorks sites in the United States and Canada. It's a role that embraces the intersection of creativity and technology. The role includes responsibility for commercial product development and customer support activities for the largest global customers. This involves interaction with external designers, brand owners, manufacturers, production as well as our internal sales and marketing organization, to manage the initial steps of the plastic color development process. Leading the team involved in color and societal trends research, delivering on Consumer Color Directions ColorForward and inspiring customers in several markets such as Packaging, Automotive, Healthcare, Personal Care and Consumer Products. Ensures people and career development, best practice skills and capability building of the ColorWorks team. Continuously drive and execute improvements to increase overall customer satisfaction while maintaining a safe, clean and safe work environment.

Essential Functions
Promote the Avient brand and Design Centers to build effective relationships within the brand-owner and design community.
Build and execute a clear growth strategy for ColorWorksDesign Centers.
Build relationships and partner with Sales and Key Account Management teams to identify target accounts for the design center based on clear value propositions.
Collaborate closely with marketing industry management to leverage emerging trends
Schedule, plan and organize customer and internal visits to site. Assure resources are secured and available to host these events.
Engage Avient resources, for work done onsite and delegate to other areas as necessary for the customer.
Effectively manage and balance resources and capacity.
Lead and supervise team activities.
Source, hire, train, coach and develop personnel, setting goals and objectives for the team, measure and support to reach those goals
Sales support, presentations at customers
Lead customer visits and the design process with them end to end
Lead the ColorForward trend forecasting annual development for North America and collaborate with global counterparts
Monthly reporting
Deep understanding of Color Material and Finish Trends and the application of them onto real world applications.
Coordinate technical support and initiate innovation projects to meet customer/ market requirements for developments.
Responsible for product conformance to all federal, state, local and private regulatory requirements.
Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information
concisely and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Ensure participation and cooperation in company implemented Environment, Safety & Health Affair (ESHA) programs; follow all company safety rules.
Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business Management or equivalent from college/university or technical school
Master's degree in marketing or business administration advantageous but not mandatory
5+ years relevant experience required.
Color and/or plastics industry experience i.e. masterbatch or related industry would be advantageous.
Color, material & finish experience would be valued.
Consumer Trend knowledge would be advantageous.
Must have strong relationship building skills; friendly, positive and comfortable with social interactions.
Results oriented with ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
Strong ability to influence without authority and drive change.

Qualifications
Strong collaborator works well with others, good listener, networker and high resilience.
Ability to mobilize internally and externally to set and achieve business goals; able to articulate and drive required change and translate into actionable objectives for the extended marketing network.
Good verbal and written communication skills and excellent presentation, research, and project coordination skills.
