Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of the Boxer Library and Information Collaboration the Associate Director for the Boxer Library manages the day to day operations of the Boxer Library as well as collaborating with the Associate Vice President on cultivating the vision of Boxer Library resources, spaces and services for all university initiatives. In this role, the Associate Director supervises and manages the librarian level positions and guides the problem solving and solution building within library services.

Target Start Date: July 1, 2024
Location: 4 days per week on site with the option of 1 remote day with the hours of Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:00pm.
Budgeted Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year

We strive to be an integral partner in student and faculty academic and research journeys by providing access to resources critical to academic progression and success such as books, databases, journal articles, physical study spaces, anatomical models, and more. In addition the library team supports the use of these resources through both synchronous and asynchronous instruction as well as one on one consultations to get the most out of the materials.
Building upon the interprofessional mission of RFUMS, the library staff work as a team with each member contributing to the team's success with their own expertise and knowledge while placing an emphasis on individual team member well being. We strive to continually evolve to provide services, resources, and spaces which enhance the impact of RFUMS.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the librarian level positions including managing workloads, coaching and mentoring, escalating concerns to the Associate Vice President when appropriate, and taking an active role in their professional development.
Manage the day to day operations of the physical library space by developing and maintaining relationships with various units such as Campus Safety, Information Technology and Facilities Management. Also troubleshoot emergent issues as they arise.
Collaborate with the Associate Vice President on the development of the overall vision of library resources and services which includes the assessment of library services and strategic planning.
Serve as the designee for the Associate Vice President when necessary, in activities such as accreditation survey visits, continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives, academic committees and task forces, and other campus initiatives.
Foster open communication and collaboration between the various communities of practice including reference, instruction, collection development, electronic resources, and evidence synthesis.
Participate in evidence synthesis projects such as systematic and scoping reviews when appropriate.
Assist patrons in accessing library resources through in-person and online consultations, participating in online chat, drop-in appointments, and email transactions.
Collaborate with the other librarians in documenting innovations and best practices in Boxer Library work in presentations at local and national conferences as well as in the development of publications related to health sciences librarianship.
Represents the library at the university in task forces, committees, and other groups when appropriate.
Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience
Master's degree in library science or equivalent from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association
Five years of experience in academic libraries with at least three years of experience as a lead in managing projects.
