Job Summary:

The Director of Sales - North America must possess both technological and business skills. The ability to communicate with engineering, OEMs and end-users is required. This key member must be capable of formulating sales & service strategies that generate profitable revenue growth. High intellect, an inquisitive personality, and desire to meet and work with people of different business backgrounds are essential qualifications. The ability and desire to travel along with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and attain an aggressive revenue plan.
  • Create and implement key sales strategies which achieve business objectives and customer success.
  • Implement sales management techniques and process improvements that maximize productivity and customer experience.
  • Lead development and implementation of major account strategies
  • Manage all sales resources and ensure resources in place, both direct and indirect, in all target segments and appropriate territories to ensure adequate market reach / coverage.
  • Establish and nurture strategic and top-level executive relationships with major OEMs in the key vertical markets.
  • Work to expand market penetration in current accounts and execute plan to grow into new OEM accounts
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • In conjunction with marketing, develop and manage strategic growth initiatives.



In addition to the specific revenue driving activities described above, the Director of Sales - North America will be a key contributor to a number of business units and division level strategic and tactical activities including:

  • Strategic planning
  • Budgeting
  • Organizational design / development and mentoring
  • Product planning
  • Collection of market intelligence - competitive, product and market
  • Voice of the customer (VOC) data collection and interpretation
  • Working closely with the Powervar's service network to ensure client satisfaction and a "cradle to grave" relationship



Minimum Qualifications:

The Director of Sales - North America must have a technology centric background that includes significant customer interaction. A minimum of 5 - 10 years of experience as an applications engineer, sales engineer, with an additional 5 years of experience as a Sales Director or Country Manager is required. Familiarity with UPS markets, especially in medical, industrial, and retail segments a plus. Professionals who have successfully created sustainable competitive advantage by tuning channel strategies and attaining high individual performance will be considered most favorably. The candidate must have previous experience working at senior staff levels with a peer group consisting of other highly seasoned professionals.

A BSEE or BSBA degree from a recognized, fully accredited college program is required. An MBA is a plus if experience and supplemental continuing education activities (in business and marketing subject matter) are deemed sufficient.
