Overview
Slack's Product Security Foundations (PSF) group is a dedicated software engineering team within Product Security focused on streamlining the process of secure development, ensuring it is user-friendly for all engineers. A critical aspect of this is creating standardized methods, libraries, tools, and services for engineers across Slack. Join an existing, high-performance, thoughtful team and help make the secure choice the easy one for all of the engineers at Slack! Examples of work this team owns include authorization frameworks that support Slack APIs, core authentication libraries, safe image and attachment processing, in addition to other secure by default libraries.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of highly experienced software security engineers

Own security-critical areas of the backend such as authorization, authentication, and cryptography

Promote active, continuous learning and improvement within your team. Cultivate team members' growth through feedback, coaching, and career development.

Manage multiple concurrent projects while effectively solving problems that cross product boundaries.

Establish strong partnerships and champion quality throughout a cross-functional organization to support the best possible security and engineering outcomes.

Work closely with other Slack Product Security teams to identify, track and remediate risk.

Support developer productivity, through training, driving solutions and tooling.

Own key metrics around security incidents, and risk trends in the Slack codebase.

Drive a security-first approach to software development and delivery.

Accountable for on-call incident escalation coverage and ProdSec incident response.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related technical field required, or equivalent practical experience.

Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team of software engineers.

Strong expertise in software engineering best practices.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail.

Ability to communicate with empathy when delivering constructive feedback to engineers.

Experience collecting and analyzing feedback from developers.

Proven track record of growing new developers.
