The Manager, Site Origination has the responsibility of originating renewable projects and other emerging technologies projects (i.e. battery storage etc.) in assigned market area(s). The Manager will be responsible for the completion and management of the full cycle of project origination activities including project/site mapping and identification, selection and contacting (mailing, in-person), obtaining land rights, completing site due diligence, and supporting the completion of early-stage development.
Responsibilities:
Perform the screening and selection of sites and project acquisition opportunities in the assigned markets, negotiating binding agreements with landowners and developers, assessing sites feasibility for permitting, construction and interconnection, providing relevant inputs for market and project specific modeling, reporton progress of site and project acquisition to department management
Maintain knowledge of applicable regulations and program rules and ensure selected sites/projects are in compliance with those requirements
Manage and lead the land acquisition process for distributed generation solar projects by working resourcefully with landowners and other external parties to secure site control
Collaborate with internal and external legal teams to establish form agreements and determine acceptability of deviations from form contracts
Conduct due diligence on potential land acquisitions, including environmental assessments, and permitting requirements
Establish and maintain trusted landowner relationships from initial contact through development hand off
Ensure that all project level reporting is updated and accurate on a weekly basis in all project development systems
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Environment, or a related field.
Minimum of 8years of relevant industry experience-specifically in terms of site screening/origination and landowner relations
Minimumof 5 years experience with contract provisions and terms, market knowledge, and regulatory issues
Minimum of 5 years Real Estate and/or project origination or development experience in energy projects, preferably renewables
Ability to effectively present to landowners in-person and via phone in order to execute land agreements
Strong aptitude and experience using GIS-based tools and techniques to find and evaluate land and sites
Knowledge of project development related tasks, particularly permitting and interconnection
Understanding of regulatory implications
Ability to work with project-type work with tight deadlines and concurrent deliverables
Ability to travel up to 50%
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $126,000 - $180,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
