Position Summary

Staff Nurse II is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse II provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse II functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals. Staff Nurse II facilitates educational development of staff, leads unit-based quality improvement initiatives and acts as a professional and clinical role model and educational resource for staff. Staff Nurse II is actively engaged in Shared Leadership through membership on a governing council.

Duties & Responsibilities

Uses clinical expertise to collaborate with nursing staff and health care team to improve patient outcomes
Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community and the nursing profession.
Demonstrates in-depth clinical knowledge, skills and expertise.
Schedules appointments and transcribes imaging orders into EPIC.
Scheduling procedures and calling patients as directed.
Provide clinical care to patients and families
Performs ongoing assessment of assigned patients' and their significant others' learning needs and identifies changes in patients' condition.
Assimilates information from multiple sources and implements appropriate action plan to provide safe, quality care.
Ensures the appropriate implementation of the patient's plans of care and facilitates communication among multidisciplinary team members regarding patient status.
Implements appropriate actions to respond to needs of patients and patients' significant others.
Monitors and documents the patient's condition during and post Endoscopy procedures.
Assures cost effective approach to patient care in terms of equipment, supplies and other resources.
In all areas of practice follows established policies, procedures and standards of care.
Participates in quality improvement activities and identifies quality issues.
Recognizes and responds to age appropriate needs and behaviors of all patients and utilizes knowledge in planning and interventions.
Advocate for patients and their significant others, coworkers, community and the nursing profession.
Consistently demonstrates professional accountability.
Holds others professionally accountable.
Promotes collaborative practice with coworkers, other disciplines and departments.
Consistently demonstrates courteous service to internal and external customers.
