Academic Hourly - Learner Experience Support - Gies College of Business

Teaching and Learning

Job Summary
Assist our Learner Experience Team in supporting innovate fully-online at-scale graduate courses.
Duties & Responsibilities

Course Support
  • Monitors active Coursera and Canvas courses
  • Checks and corrects courses for quality issues
  • Manages Coursera and Canvas course functional questions and concerns related to quizzes, assignments,
    rubrics, etc. during active courses
  • Collects and reviews student experience data under the direction of the LX & Data teams (e.g., end of
    course evaluations, student satisfaction surveys, Live Session attendance reports, etc.)
  • Conducts course debrief meetings for assigned courses and presents student experience data
  • Provides recommendations to learning designers and the Instructional Team for improving the student
    experience data
Learner Support
  • Prepares documentation and other learning aids to help students
  • Implements accessibility accommodations (i.e., adjusting assignment settings, coordinating with the
    Accessibility team, etc.)
  • Triages student support tickets using technical support management tools, as well as properly documenting
    and recording issues
Course Building
  • Assists with course readiness in Coursera and Canvas prior to launch
  • Updates Coursera and Canvas course sites as needed
  • Builds and maintains expertise in the Coursera and Canvas LMS platforms and other relevant technologies
    for teaching
Other
  • Attends regular team meetings and course meetings such as: transition, launch, check-in, and debriefs
  • Attends other meetings (e.g., course development meetings) as needed
Minimum Qualifications

Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience:
  • Canvas LMS experience
  • Customer support experience
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:
  • Coursera platform experience
  • Experience in higher-ed supporting learners and instructional staff
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required: English Fluency. Tech-savvy. Detail-oriented. Ability to work 20 hours or more a week during business hours M-F with flexibility to respond to urgent requests on evenings or weekends, as needed.

Preferred: Skilled in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Proficient at troubleshooting technical issues.

Appointment Information

This is a part-time Academic Hourly position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/27/2024. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. The salary range for this position starts at $25 per hour.

The work location for this position may be flexible. Highly qualified candidates may be eligible to work full-time remotely within the US, on-premise at our offices in Champaign, Illinois, or a combination.
