What are your main accountabilities ?
We are seeking an experienced data scientist leader to join our global Data & Genomics team. This will be an exciting opportunity to bring state-of-the-art data analysis and data modeling techniques to solve critical customer quality and safety challenges through data in the Global Food space. Using statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, the candidate will actively participate in the effort to define, develop and deliver state-of-the-art data solutions to solve critical customer quality and safety challenges in the Global Food space.
You will work in a global team, managing and expanding a diverse group of data scientists in both a leadership/ coaching role and as an individual contributor on strategic projects. You will need:
the ability to understand and frame problems,
the technical talent to identify and develop the best data approaches with the team,
the project management skills to specify clear deliverables and prioritization for the team,
and the story-telling needed to identify and communicate clear, understandable insights to non-technical audiences.

Your responsibilities :
Manages team of 3-6 data science direct reports at different skill and experience levels
Develops technical approach for data science projects with team
Oversees multiple complex technical projects, with the ability to clearly define deliverables, timelines, roles and responsibilities with the team
Interacts with customers as needed for customer insight, business development support and project delivery
Strong communication, collaboration and support with key internal teams to deliver successful projects and solutions; close team interactions include software development, bioinformatics, project management, sales, marketing and executive management
What is your profile?
3 years of experience managing a data science team
4 year degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
5 years of experience in data science with focus on analyzing data
5 years of programming experience in at least one of the most employed programming languages in data science: Python, R, or similar high level languages
Demonstrated Python proficiency and knowledge of Javascript, CSS and other programming languages for the web and data visualization are preferential
Experience with common productivity software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Comfort working in a dynamic, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams with multidisciplinary skill-sets.
Technical skills :
Proven experience in machine learning and statistical modeling
Proven experience in software and/or pipeline development for data science needs
Ability to present data-based insights to non-data science audience
Fluent in Python for data science applications
