Organization & Role

The Analog Hardware Engineer position is an entry level individual contributor position in the Buffalo Grove Hardware Development Group. The candidate will design, analyze, validate, and iterate signal delivery solutions for ATE instrumentation, and will see designs through all aspects of their development lifecycle. They will work with vendors to seek the best use of new technology for continual improvement, will participate in design reviews with their fellow engineers, and create engineering documentation for other functions within the company. This position will report to Manager of the Buffalo Grove Hardware Development Group.

Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Analog Hardware Engineer at the Buffalo Grove, Illinois facility includes:

+ Derivation of hardware requirements and implementation plans / topologies from higher level product and system requirements.

+ Schematic capture, PCB planning and review

+ Circuit development and debug, including on-board power supply design, power regulation, control loops, magnetic, filters, and high speed circuits and signals;

+ Circuit simulation and design for margin analysis.

+ Coordinating efforts across analog, digital, software and mechanical departments;

+ Assisting with design verification testing and data collection, for proof of meeting design goals;

+ Assisting with product defect resolution and issue tracking to improve new designs prior to release;

+ Creation or modification of engineering documentation of designs to assist new product introduction personnel as well as for training purposes within the engineering team;

+ Set up BOM structures, author Engineering Change Orders, and work with Supply Line and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure a sustainable product

+ Working with Functional Managers and Program Managers to define the scope of assigned work and estimate effort;

Basic Qualifications & Skills

The Teradyne Buffalo Grove facility designs, develops, and tests / verifies complex systems involving electrical and electronic hardware, RTL, software, and mechanical hardware. Applicants are expected to possess the following qualifications:

+ BS in Electrical Engineering, with relevant course study in: Electronics Design, Analog Hardware Design and Circuit Analysis, Electromagnetics, Micro-electronic circuits, Logic Design, Signals and Systems, Control Systems, Analog Filter Design, Transmission Lines

+ Implementation of circuits on printed circuit boards

+ Design & Simulation tool skills, such as PSpice or LTSpice.

+ Knowledge of grounding techniques for digital and analog circuits along with special considerations for floating circuits

+ Skilled in circuit and system characterization, data collection and analysis. Competent computer skills for data collection and processing.

+ Basic programming skills in C/C++ or similar language

+ Expertise with lab tools: DMM’s, High Speed Oscilloscopes, waveform generators, Spectrum / Network Analyzers

+ Good people skills required with the ability to relate to peers and the ability to overcome obstacles to project progress.

+ Effectively adapt to differing work styles and operate in a dynamic environment.
