Job Summary:

The Northwestern School of Professional Studies Distance Learning team, located in Chicago, Illinois, is looking for a motivated individual to join our team. In this role, you will join various course development teams and have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of courses and topics.

This job is perfect for a detail-oriented person who is organized, possesses strong writing skills, and is adaptable to multiple deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have copy writing experience, preferably in an educational setting.  Experience with learning management systems and digital accessibility is a plus!

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Directs and leads development of program/project strategic plan. 
  • Interact with distance education staff and faculty to edit and format digital materials, both documents and within LMS, for online courses.
  • Perform technical editing of highly technical and complex materials.
  • Proofread all course materials and provide meaningful, appropriate feedback to instructors.
  • Adhere to various publication styles as well as internal style manuals.
  • Adhere to copyright laws and identify potential violations.
  • Work with University departments and external vendors to ensure copyright compliance.
  • Review all course sites and assets for compliance with accessibility standards (developed based on WCAG 2.1).
  • Create or edit content for the department’s website, blog or other social media on an as-needed basis.
