Job Summary: The Commodity Manager will be part of the core Commodity Management & Strategic Sourcing team, responsible for leading the go-to-market strategy leveraging traditional category & sourcing processes. The Commodity Manager will manage and ensures cost, availability, innovation, and quality according to business needs. Ensures that cost and quality targets are met by utilizing advanced commodity management strategies. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the sourcing strategies for the mechanical commodity. Commodities may include raw materials (such as aluminum, steel, and plastics), finished components (aluminum and steel enclosures, panels), panel metals (shelves, brackets, hinges), die casting, and plastic injection molding.

Develop a multi-year category strategy and establish processes that align with delivery strategies and fulfill urgent demand schedules.

Partner with stakeholders to implement complex category strategies aligned with business/finance goals, and serve as the primary point of contact for supplier relationships.

Lead end-to-end RFX process, identify and build relationships with strategic suppliers, and maximize value creation. At Cubic we have an 8-step sourcing process.

Regularly review category strategies and enhance the effectiveness of existing strategies and or develop new strategies in response to market factors and requirements.

Lead efforts in consolidating suppliers, standardizing procurement, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Advocate for the implementation of category strategies, approved by stakeholders, and communicated appropriately to the end user community.

Collects relevant internal and industry data to understand business requirements, benchmarks data.
against relevant markets, and shares industry and category expertise across stakeholder teams to
develop and execute sourcing strategies.

Manages contract and price negotiation activities cross-functionally.

Set specific strategic goals and KPIs for cost and maturity on a commodity category level.

Establishes and performs to budget specifications (both organizational and program-related).

Serve as the main interface between the procurement function and business units on specific product groups and categories to optimize sourcing strategies and business needs.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree, preferably in materials management, business administration, supply chain, engineering, or related field.

Five (5)+ years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, and procurement; or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience.

Sourcing skills including identifying sourcing opportunities, performing spend analysis, development of sourcing strategy, project management, development of RFX documents, contract management, supplier benchmarking, contract compliance, and purchase order execution.

Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Requires knowledge of government procurement, contracting, and standards and specifications.

Knowledge of proposal evaluation and proven ability to negotiate effectively. Ability to provide workable solutions to a wide variety of subcontractor/customer challenges.

Must be available for travel both domestic and international.
