TITLE:                                 Quality Engineer III

DUTIES:                               UOP LLC is seeking a Quality Engineer III for our Des Plaines, IL location. Develop thorough understanding of UOP specifications and standards applicable to stationary and rotary equipment, packaged equipment, and in support of module fabrication disciplines (ie., structural, piping, electrical, instrumentation, refractory, painting, insulation, shipping preparation). Industry standards include, but not limited to: ASME Section II, V, VIII, IX, and ASWS D1.1. Review client specifications during proposal stage to determine addition cost and/or schedule impact as compared to UOP standard specifications. Perform review of UOP Technical Requisitions to fully understand technical requirements in preparation for project involvement. Develop Inspection Data Sheets for scope of work at the start of a project, to define UOP inspection requirements, coordinate client involvement, and to define expectations for supplier ITP submittals. Perform review of supplier ITP’s, WPS/PQR’s, Material Control procedures, PMI procedures, NDE procedures, Hardness Testing procedures, Destructive Testing procedures, Painting procedures, Bolt Tightening/Torquing procedures, Pressure Testing procedures, Insulation procedures, Refractory Installation procedures, FAT testing procedures, Preparation for Shipping procedures. Prepare contract inspection service requests, review inspection service quotes and resumes, interview inspectors (as required), recommend inspectors for hire, launch inspectors, and manage inspectors and services. Plan, schedule, coordinated, facilitate Pre-Inspection Meetings with attendance by UOP Engineers/PM’s, UOP clients, and UOP suppliers. Participate in supplier qualifications and audits, including supplier improvement programs. Manage supplier quality issues during projects, including NCR identification and resolution. Provide inspection coordination between UOP, Client, and suppliers. Review of inspection reports, testing reports, and final data packages for acceptance. Ability to brainstorm solutions to problems, identify areas for continuous system improvement and cost reduction. Ability to work on multiple projects, work independently, learn new technologies, get involved in hands-on work.

 

OTHER:                               Job Site: Des Plaines, IL. 40 hours/week; $118,123/year. If offered employment must have legal right to work in U.S. EOE.
