The Specialist, Risk Analytics, for the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Management organization in the 2nd line-of-defense (2LOD) will be an individual contributor working closely with peers, stakeholders, and their manager to run and enhance the NFR risk metrics and reporting program. They will help define how Northern Trust best identifies and addresses risk for our most important processes and areas. They will back up and support the Head of NFR Metrics and Reporting in developing dashboards and briefing senior leadership. The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Designs, gathers, and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI)/Key Risk Indicators (KRI) metrics for NFR areas, including Cyber, Technology, Operational Execution, and Operational Resiliency
  • Identifies risk analytics gaps and works closely with stakeholders in 1LOD to address
  • Provides oversight and effective challenge to 1LOD metrics program, to include selection of metrics, automation, and data source quality
  • Works closely with the team to produce and distribute NFR dashboards
  • Drive change, in coordination with key stakeholders, to enhance metrics and reporting to include more real time availability of data and the ability to parse data through different lenses (e.g. business units)
  • Detects and advises management of potential risk and may recommend changes and/or enhancements to improve efficiencies in procedures
  • Researches and develops solutions for issues being addressed by the organization
  • Coordinates and/or performs activities of designated risk initiatives
  • Responds to internal and external inquiries and requests for information
  • Reviews documentation and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Attends seminars to maintain up-to-date knowledge of new issues and regulatory developments
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects or special initiatives assigned



The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • 12 - 15 years of data metrics/analytics experience
  • 6 - 8 years of risk management experience preferred, with experience in technology, cyber, or audit a plus
  • Strong working industry knowledge preferred
  • Advanced Excel and data analytics skills; Working knowledge of SQL, Incorta, Azure Data, Python, and PowerBI are preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills required to summarize and analyze information
  • Organizational skills required to coordinate risk related activities
  • Can work effectively as a team member and independently
  • Solution-oriented and proactive work style
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once/
