The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Manager in maintaining a high standard in tools and processes that ensures products are manufactured without defects to internal and external customers. Additional responsibilities include supporting the Company's quality initiatives by performing visual, and dimensional inspections coupled with documentation reviews to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards. This position has a key role in interacting effectively with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Materials Management.

Position is in Wheeling, IL and will report directly to the Quality Manager
Some local travel may be required.
Will interact and work closely with other departments to resolve quality issues using proper problem-solving tools and techniques.
Implementing and maintaining standards of the Destaco Quality Management System.
Will be required to perform visual and dimensional measurement inspections, non-destructive product testing and be able to use handheld gauges.
Will be responsible for documenting, updating, and filling in new and current quality documentation.
Collaborate with suppliers to make sure all the components and raw materials meet the

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

Customer Management: Create and present quality reports that analyze internal and external quality standards.

Supplier Management: Work with suppliers to make sure all the components and raw materials meet the organization's quality standards.

Problem Solving: Lead cross-functional team in the daily Material Review Board meetings for disposition of non-conforming material. Conduct problem solving activities as required to reduce non-conformances.

Metric Reporting: Create and present quality reports that analyze internal and external quality standards.

Production & Assembly Support: Support machining and assembly personnel as requested with inspection activities and internal non-conformance investigations.

Job Requirements:
Demonstrates the ability to effectively use all measuring hand tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
Must have complete understanding of 5 WHY / 8D / Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
Must have a good understanding of GD&T specifications & blueprint reading.
Must have working knowledge of APQP processes (PFMEA / Control Plans / Gage R&R)
Must be able to use Microsoft Office software for creating quality related documents.
Assists in the development of standardized work instructions & process maps.
Learn and maintain knowledge of documentation required to meet customer's standards.
Work closely with production staff to solve quality problems and answer questions on quality.
Capable of managing and completing multiple tasks accurately and expeditiously
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and complete work with a sense of urgency.
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Experience (preferred):
3+ years of working in a quality type role.
2+ years of experience working with tight tolerance machined products with GD&T
2+ years of working with handheld measuring equipment.
