Job Description

Zurich Services (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant responsible for the development of new strategies and programs to improve Zurich’s competitiveness in risk engineering areas and provide risk assessment and risk improvement services for customers and business partners. Specific duties include: assess the quality of complex risks and loss potentials; support external customers by identifying and reducing the risks; provide appropriate risk improvement advice, conduct loss investigations and implement risk improvement programs; share technical expertise with colleagues, business partners and customers; develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships; resolve technical issues, problems and projects in reference to policies and procedures; utilize established financial systems to assess loss potential in order to manage and control exposure to the organization; develop a simple business case for a defined project to determine potential benefits, clarify the rationale for investment and support the planning process; prepare draft manuals based on the accepted changes to policies and procedures; research primary data sources, select relevant information related to ordinary types of risks and make appropriate recommendations to external customers; act as technical expert to contribute to the continuous improvement of customer services; maintain oversight of service delivery to the customer to ensure service expectations are fulfilled, reinforcing customer focus across the team; and contribute to the Business Operating Profit through opportunity spotting and cross selling. Position requires 30% travel within the U.S. Option to work remotely.

 

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 6 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Risk Engineering Consultant, Loss Control Consultant, or similar experience in Risk Engineering. Must have 4 years of experience with each of the following: working with GREW (Global Risk Engineering Workstation) software; and working with the policies and procedures of Zurich Risk Engineering including report writing requirements, technical Assessment Guidelines, Loss Scenario definitions and calculations, and Zurich Recognized Property Protection Principles. Specific experience must also include: analyzing strategic risk engineering options; building relationships with brokers; and ensuring that Corporate Customers receive a tailored Risk Engineering program focused on the improvement of their quality of risk. Must be willing to travel within the U.S. 30% of the time. Option to work remotely.
