Academic Advisor of Advising Operations
Reporting to the Director of Academic Advising, the Academic Advisor of Advising Operations, provides oversight of drop-in advising, student evaluations, and supports new student advising logistics. They also provide direct advising support to students.

Job Responsibilities (Essential Duties):
Oversight of advisor-enacted practices within iAdvise, such as: drop-in advising, documentation of advising interactions, early alert and other Flag-based processes, etc.
Assists with the onboarding and participates in the training and continued professional development of academic advisors.
Provides logistical support for New Student Advising and Registration programming, including new student advising group assignments, student systems management, and day-of-program oversight, such as new student check-in.
Serves as a member of the LAS Student Academic Affair's New Student Advising and Registration committee, which: accesses outcomes, solicits feedback from staff, and incorporates feedback into future new student advising and registration programs.
Supervises student employees for New Student Advising and Registration.
Engages in undergraduate student advising with current and incoming undergraduate students, evaluating students' degree progress/eligibility, educating, and providing guidance concerning degree requirements, programs, and academic and professional planning.
Evaluates undergraduate students' progress in their respective programs, evaluating degree requirements, counseling, and providing guidance and direction.
Educates students regarding college, university, and campus policies and procedures, as well as course registration and selection. Interprets and enforces academic policies.
Guides students in navigating the petition process for exceptions to academic policies.
Provides students and prospective students with information regarding available college and university resources and opportunities.
Educates and informs prospective students and their family/friends about LAS degree programs and opportunities to aid in the recruitment of new LAS students.
Intervenes and refers students to resources throughout the university community as needed.
Exercises professional discretion and judgment to troubleshoot issues and problems that may arise.
Documents pertinent and required information related to interactions with students.
Maintains and updates related databases as needed to ensure that student records accurately reflect degree progress and academic status.
Assesses transfer courses for equivalency to UIC courses and requirements, updating student records to reflect determined equivalency.
Participates on committees and/or teams as needed and/or assigned.
Other related duties include participating in and/or leading special projects as assigned.
