Overview

Pay range for this position is $28.49 - $41.15/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure.
POSITION SUMMARY: Initiates the perioperative patient plan of care as the initial clinician member of the perioperative team. Using clinical knowledge in relation to disease processes and how they impact the surgical patient, the perioperative scheduling RN coordinates the testing and case scheduling for all of the surgical services area. The RN coordinates all preoperative testing for the patient, utilizing knowledge of disease processes and medical diagnoses appropriate for Medicare/insurance reimbursement. Uses strong background knowledge of medical equipment required for surgical cases; reserving the necessary resources within both the surgery and ancillary departments, including, but not limited to: Nuclear Medicine, Lab and Phlebotomy, Mammography, CT, MRI, US, GI, Medical Imaging, Pre-Admission Testing, cohort classes and the Hospitalist Service. The RN is also responsible for using clinical knowledge in assisting in accurate case preparation, by booking appropriate procedures and preference cards for each case scheduled. Facilitates patient advocacy and enhances physician office staff relationships with OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center through prompt, efficient and accurate scheduling of cases and resources necessary for our physician partners to perform surgical cases in an environment of safe patient care. Population age groups include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelors of Nursing required, or three plus years nursing experience with completion of BSN within five years of hire. Experience: 5 years of medical/surgical experience. License/Certifications: Registered nurse license (State of Illinois). Other Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in typing, excellent computer knowledge, with proficiency in using multiple computer systems concurrently. Professional phone skills and etiquette as well as strong background knowledge of medical terminology is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience within an OR setting.
