Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a physician, the PRN MA is responsible for assisting with patient care delivery within the Reproductive Medicine and Immunology Service. The PRN MA's responsibilities are assigned by the Director of Reproductive Medicine and Immunology and provides assurances that all assigned assignments are delivered with optimal patient care, provides consistent information to the Reproductive Medicine and Immunology patients, and reinforces a positive patient experience.
This will be a part-time position at less than 18 hours-per-week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care Role:
Ensures that all assigned patient support and care needs are met and that patients are seen on a timely basis. Informs practitioners of any delays.
Can be a resource to help and troubleshoot patient care deliver that may arise throughout the day related to patient care. Under the direction and guidance of the physician, may work with other departments (clinical lab, revenue cycle, front desk operations, etc.) to resolve issues.
May communicate and coordinate with PSR staff regarding new patient scheduling; addresses patient inquiries regarding the Reproductive Medicine program.
May attend provider and clinical staff meetings as appropriate
Role/Responsibilities:
Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, collecting specimens, blood draws, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting providers with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
Fulfill clerical/administrative responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab reports, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and charting to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
Reviews all daily lab appointments and under the physician's direction, processes necessary lab testing.
Under the physician's direction, order entry for daily lab appointments.
Reviews new patient charts for previous history; under the physician's direction, identifies applicable existing diagnosis, facilitates review by the physician of lab results
Addresses messages on the nurse line.
Can assist with difficult blood draws, if applicable and as appropriate
Patient education for SQ and IM injection.
Patient education for medication, follow-up schedule, and treatment plan as determined by providers.
Submits prior authorization for standard medications.
Sets up Gyne examinations.
Perform other related duties as assigned or delegated

Required Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
3-5 years' experience in a health care setting, reproductive medicine service preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong customer service orientation.
Ability to work/interact with diverse populations; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, previous EMR software experience.
Excellent phlebotomy skills
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong work ethic and high-level integrity.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; set priorities; multitask.
Excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality and the ability to work with sensitive information, records, and reports.
Ability to treat sensitive/confidential information with appropriate discretion.
Ability to work as a member of a team and to interact effectively and maintain collegial relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
