Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Area Administrator of Intact Family Services.  Subject to management approval, this position will oversee Intact Family Services Team Supervisors who are responsible for comprehensive child welfare services for intact families within the region.  The position provides input into regional planning activities for intact family services and coordinates program support services within the region.  This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in being a leader in the administration of child welfare services for intact families.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong leadership skills.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as Area Administrator of Intact Family Services

2. Serves as full line supervisor of subordinate supervisory staff

3. Provides input into all regional planning activities for intact family services

4. Coordinates program support services within the region

5. Consults with and advises community and regional advisory councils, committees, and private agencies on program needs, standards, and services

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires an MSW or master’s degree in a related human services field, in business administration, or a juris doctorate

 

2. Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with an MSW OR five years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with a master’s degree in a related human services field, in business administration, or a juris doctorate

Preferred Qualifications

1. 5 years of professional experience managing or conducting child welfare casework or child protection investigations

2. 3 years of experience supervising professional staff

3. Professional experience in the oversight of a large program with multiple sites

4. Professional experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures

5. Professional experience conducting social work planning activities on a regional or statewide basis in a management capacity

6. Professional experience conducting community outreach as a representative of a public or business organization

7. Professional experience coordinating program services

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to pass a background check

2. Requires possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to travel
