Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

Summary/Objective

This position will support general Scrap Purchasing and logistics responsibilities for the growing Hydro Recycling organization in the United States, sourcing scrap in alignment with the strategic direction of the company to enhance our capabilities to produce sustainable aluminum products.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities

Strategic Metal Management:
Continuously align with U.S. Recycling plants to develop monthly and yearly scrap sourcing and planning strategies and develop a monthly scrap inventory position.
Participate in production planning process with plants to help develop sourcing strategy to meet product requirements and procurement goals.
Perform monthly scrap inventory reconciliation by customer.
Ensure alignment between scrap quality and internal plant constraints, such as equipment requirements and packaging restraints. o Assist in development and management of logistics plan for North American Aluminum Metal activities alongside plants and other key stakeholders.
Market Development:
Grow and manage scrap and raw material sourcing network in North America.
Utilize knowledge of scrap market conditions (competition, freight, market conditions) to ensure best possible value for customers and plants.
Foster continuous positive relations with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
Administration of scrap purchasing activities:
Contract and order administration of scrap and raw material purchases in coordination with other members of the Scrap Procurement team.
Planning and coordination of raw material deliveries in cooperation with logistics and assigned plants.
Reporting on supplier performance, purchase volumes and price levels.
Pricing and hedging of purchase orders.
Resolve supplier claims and concerns.
Assist in management of tolling/conversion accounts to ensure compliance with Hydro scrap management and quality requirements.

Competencies Required

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and oral.
Work in a team environment and foster good relations with both external and internal stakeholders.
Strong customer focus, as well as a sense of urgency are key requirements.
Safety consciousness and willingness to raise and address safety concerns.
Initiative in learning operational processes of assigned plants to better serve customers.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline (Business, Supply Chain and Logistics) is required.
2-4 years of experience in a strategic sourcing position, preferably in the metals industry, is preferred.
Experience in large matrix organizations, as well as familiarity with international businesses, are pluses.
