Position Highlights:
Position: Phlebotomist Lead
Location: Northwest Community Hospital
Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
Hours: Monday-Friday, 5am-1:30pm, e/o week-end and rotating holidays.

What you will need:
License: N/A
Education: The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of four years of high school or the equivalent.
Certification: Certification in approved school of phlebotomy is highly desirable.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting; including experience working with all age groups of patients and performing various age related testing procedures.
Skills: Essential Functions:

Plans shift staffing requirements and monitors resources and productivity, to ensure efficient completion of all laboratory work. Participates in laboratory work completion. Performs all tasks/work expected of Phlebotomist III and serves as a resource to all Phlebotomist staff. In conjunction with the Supervisor, determines training and staff development initiatives, coordinates laboratory work processes; assists with the monitoring of the department quality assurance program and ensures quality standards and service standards are met.

II. REPRESENTATIVE FUNCTIONS:

Oversees daily work assignments of staff in assigned areas, by monitoring daily labor requirements and assigned areas to ensure high quality standards are maintained. Monitors daily work variables and shift staffing mix for each shift daily.

Performs all functions of a #0490 Phlebotomist III as needed.

Identifies operational areas of concern and/or trends; assesses areas for improvement. Reports findings related to productivity, training, shift coverage and project implementation issues to the Supervisor, Manager and/or Director as appropriate. Assists in the creation of department policies, and implements training program modifications relating to process and performance standards, safety, infection and quality control.

Assists in the development of and maintains work schedules for all staff, based on budget guidelines and working with the supervisor and manager to determine appropriate staffing. Ensures minimum staffing levels are maintained.

Provides ongoing feedback and input on employee performance and management process to the Supervisor and/or Manager.
Assists with the development of training and staff development initiatives that support meeting and exceeding hospital customer and laboratory service standards. Ensures orientation of all new and existing employees on department and job specific policy and procedure requirements including infection control, safety issues, protective equipment and proper use of chemical agents.
