Morton Buildings, Inc. is the industry leader in post-frame construction. We have been in business for 120 years and have more than 10 manufacturing, fabrication, and shipping plants servicing over 100 construction centers nationwide. Per year, across America, thousands of new buildings sport the familiar Morton M.
Our Welder welds metal parts together using specified wire welding processes. Performs related tasks such as flame cutting, carbon arc gouging and grinding. Replaces/repairs trailer frames and suspensions.

Responsibilities
Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated mild steel and aluminum products in an efficient manner to maximize production
Operates the equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operators to the Safety Director or Maintenance Department
Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous and consistent
Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process
Maintains/produces a level of output that will minimize production delays
Assesses and executes weld repairs on various types of equipment
Cleans and maintains an orderly work area
Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal overflow
Assists other individuals in area when needed
Other duties as deemed necessary and requested by the Supervisor
Implements all aspects of Lean Manufacturing
Qualifications
Knowledge of welding processes and equipment
Minimum 2 years of welding experience
Knowledge of Pulse welding desired
Ability to weld vertical, flat and overhead welds with a good penetration and quality appearance
Ability to operate a plasma cutter, carbon arc gouger and acetylene torches
Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments
Ability to hold final required cosmetic finish with angle grinders and sanders
Math skills, including fractions and angles
Ability to read tape measure and angle finder
Ability to read blueprint drawings and cut lists
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down and overhead
Ability to climb and work from a ladder
Ability to operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches
Training in forklift operation desirable
Training in overhead crane operation desirable
Ability to pass a weld test given on-site during interview
