You will:
Operate the Linac, through direct interaction with the accelerator control system, to meet the needs of HEP experiments, downstream accelerators, and Linac beam studies.
Monitor H- beam transmission through the Linac to ensure proper functioning of the machine and conformance with safety specifications and regulations.
Serve as Machine Coordinator for the Linac Operations Group as needed. This involves working on-call to serve as the first point of contact to resolve machine failures.
Work with the Linac Maintenance Group and other engineering support groups to coordinate repairs to malfunctioning equipment.
Assist with developing safety documentation, procedures, and requirements relating to Linac operations.
Perform data collection, processing, and analysis. Presents results to supervisor, other scientists, engineers, and engineering physicists.
Write, edit, and review scientific papers.
Write, edit, maintain, document and review computer programming code used to operate, study, and monitor machine systems.
Design and develop equipment or sub-systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

We are looking for:

Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or relevant subject.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technical concepts.
Strong analytical, creative, and independent problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with basic hand tools and electrical test equipment (multi-meter, oscilloscopes, etc.).
Ability to coordinate activities between different departments.
Experience with data collection and analysis.
Experience with electrical or mechanical design is preferred.
Experience with computer programming application development, testing and version control is preferred.
Experience with accelerator operations is a plus.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally perform light physical work is required.
Ability to maneuver around equipment, magnets and beam-pipes is required.
Ability to work in electromagnetic fields and near high voltage is required.
Ability to work in a radiation environment is required.
Ability to respond to call-ins in support of 24/7 operation is required.
