The Chief Medical Officer, NorthShore Hospitals, Endeavor Health will oversee the clinical performance related to quality, physician practice, patient safety, and physician-related patient experience across the NorthShore Hospitals. The CMO will work with the NorthShore Hospitals' president, System Chief Clinical Officer, department chairs and operational leaders to build and deploy interdisciplinary care delivery models and evidence-based practices that enhance clinical outcomes, improve patient experience and team member engagement, improve care efficiency, and effectively include advanced practice providers. This role is a critical convener of interdisciplinary teams to proactively develop safe systems of care and respond to ongoing clinical care delivery improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Oversee acute care quality and patient safety, infection prevention and control, clinical accreditation and regulatory, utilization management performance, standards, and implementation
Partner with operational, clinical, and system leadership to address acute care operational issues such as patient throughput, transfers, and resource utilization.
Provides strategic oversight of proactive and reactive patient safety activities including root cause analyses, failure mode effects analyses, and serious safety and sentinel event alerts in regards to the active facilitation of dialogue, process, planning, implementation, and evaluation of effectiveness of process changes and interventions
Partner with Patient Experience leadership to advance physician communication metrics and overall patient experience improvement efforts Oversee physician peer review, acute care clinical performance and professional conduct, and medical staff services in partnership with medical staff leadership and clinical department chairs.
Oversee the development and implementation of physician practice standards to advance clinical consistency Oversee and/or partner with key service line/operational leaders for acute care physician contracts and arrangements as appropriate; Advance the program performance of acute care physician programs including emergency medicine, hospital medicine, critical care, and stroke. This oversight is done in partnership with division and department leadership and focuses on the opportunity to advance the coordination, efficiency, and clinical outcomes that require optimization across these serve lines/clinical programs.
Oversee entity-specific medical directors as appropriate. This includes the medical directors for critical care, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, and stroke. These are done in partnership with their connections to their respective divisions/departments
Work with key inpatient-focused division heads and vice chairs across all departments to build an effective inpatient physician care delivery system that meets patient care needs and matches physician and APP workflows to patient needs and acuity across all 4 pavilions. Inpatient-focused quality vice chairs will dually report to their clinical chair and to the CMO.
Participate in the Performance Hub and help to identify priority areas for NS Legacy and serve as a key leader to determine system acute care priorities. Share performance data regularly with the clinical department chairs and other operational and clinical leaders.
Participate in the review of serious clinical events and ensure that the processes (such as root cause analysis) are transparent and include open discussion of care delivery concerns and challenges. Use these reviews to reflect on current processes and propose and implement changes to improve safety and reliability of care.

Qualifications (minimum requirements):
Minimum Education Level
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Minimum Licensure Requirements
Unrestricted Illinois medical license
Minimum Certification Requirements
Board certification in his/her clinical specialty
Minimum Work Experience
At least three years of progressive operational and physician leadership experience
Ongoing clinical practice for at least a 0.1 FTE
