This position is responsible for credit risk analysis on consumer loan products and designated small business loan transactions. This employee will also interact frequently with customers, other department associates, various division managers and senior management.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Underwrite consumer and select small business loan applications.
Perform credit risk analysis for an assigned pipeline of consumer loan applications.
Initiate the loan opening process and submit complete applications for pre-approval.
Determine loan eligibility based on initial application review and initiate timely preparation of all required loan disclosures within regulatory timelines.
Analyze risk factors to competently underwrite assigned loan applications according to company and investor underwriting guidelines.
Mitigate loan risk through prudent assessment of applicant credit quality, repayment ability, and collateral valuation.
Analyze tax returns and related financial statements to determine applicant cash-flows and capacity for loan repayment.
Prepare formal loan presentations for senior colleagues and respective loan committees.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment within assigned credit authority.
Review supporting loan documents with responsibility for ensuring accuracy and underwriting authentication.
Occasionally negotiate loan related transactions directly with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
Interact with internal and external business partners on a regular basis.
Apply related concepts, practices, applicable policies and government regulations in a consistent manner throughout the lending process.
Work efficiently under minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-volume loan production environment.
Conduct and complete additional assignments/projects as designated by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
This position requires the individual to take loan applications and close loans.
This position may require the employee to register and maintain registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS).
Minimum three years of consumer loan with a thorough understanding mortgage loan process from origination through closing.
Proficient at queueing applications for preparation of required disclosures and necessary re-disclosures throughout the application process.
Prior experience reviewing credit reports, tax returns, asset accounts, and business financial statements with strong attention to detail by analyzing figures and calculations.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize assignments within established deadlines.
Aptitude for collaborative business and customer interaction.
Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and responsibilities appropriately.
Must be professional, comfortable speaking with external and internal contacts with a demonstrated ability to effectively tailor the message appropriately to the audience and situation.
Demonstrated ability to convey thoughts and ideas effectively and succinctly via written formats, including emails, letters, and electronic platforms. Maintain professional standards relating to spelling and grammar.
Maintain credibility through professional demeanor, appearance, and presence by modeling standards appropriate to our environment and industry.
Maintain good working relationships with internal partners by exhibiting exemplary interpersonal skills, adopting a constructive, solutions-focused approach.
Use sound professional judgment to balance the interests of the organization and customer, understanding and using available resources to mitigate risks.
Proficiency utilizing DecisionPro, MortgageBot, and/or other web-based loan origination systems is required.
