About You

Your Day
As a Software Engineer in Yahoo's Observability team, you will specialize in building high performance, high throughput, distributed, and scalable systems that would be capable of handling millions of data points/second in real-time; storage systems handling massive write rates and queries that scan through millions of rows. You will work hand-in-hand with world-class teams of other software engineers and architects to build amazing experiences that will delight our users.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of programming experience using JAVA, Golang, Python or similar languages
- Excellent systems programming development, testing, and debugging skills
- 3+ years of experience in software design and development with a focus on large scale distributed systems handling large amounts of data
- 5+ years of strong Unix/Linux experience
- 3+ years experience using cloud based environments, i.e. AWS, GCP
- Experience with OSS and / or commercial observability tools like Grafana, NewRelic, DataDog, Splunk, Chronosphere, AWS or GCP native telemetry tools
- Experience with Big Data tools like ElasticSearch, OpenTSDB
- Expert skill set integrating diverse API and Web Services
- B.S. in Computer Science good academic background or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of network and security practices in cloud and on-prem deployments
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people, geographically dispersed across the world
- Knowledge and operational experience running large-scale distributed systems
