We are seeking a Regional Communications Specialist for Chicago area. This position will help to share the stories of the incredible patients we have the honor of serving as they pursue their passions.
In this purpose-driven role, you will report into Hanger's national PR and Communications Team and partner with regional-based leadership to develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies specific to region and market-based plans, including but not limited to: the creation and management of region-specific social media channels, the management of proactive and reactive media opportunities, maintaining region and market-specific webpages, and collaborating on community events. The Midwest Region covers Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and the majority of Missouri, and the ideal candidate will be located in the greater Chicago area.

 


Your Impact

 

Work with the External Communications Manager to plan and implement external communications activities to advance the region's communication goals and meet strategic objectives.
Develop, track, and report on KPIs associated with strategic plans.
Manage local media relations, including both proactive and reactive opportunities.
Manage the region's social media accounts, including drafting engaging content and connecting with audiences.
Manage and update region and market-specific webpages.
Develop and maintain a communications schedule for continuous community engagement and media/editorial content.
Manage and keep up-to-date the region's digital media archive and press clips.
Collaborate on local community events, working with budgets and in coordination with vendors.

 


Minimum Qualifications

 


Required:
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism or similar field
3 - 5 years of relevant experience

 


Additional Success Factors

 

Knowledge of principles, techniques and methods of public relations
Experience in social media administration for a business including: planning, engagement strategy and goal setting; publishing schedules; development of online reputation; reputation management; and content management (including website)
Ability to field inquiries from the press
Ability to use analytics to improve decision-making
Ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities to produce committed results with quality on schedule
Ability to deliver information in a clear, concise and compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results
Excellent writing, proofing and editorial skills. Fluent in AP Style
Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and time-management skills
Ability to prioritize projects according to enterprise objectives, while exhibiting flexibility in a fast-paced, often pressured environment
