Description:

Position Summary

Employees at this level perform a variety of technical and patient care tasks in the department utilizing magnetic resonance energy and radio-frequency waves to produce medical images of the human body and/or animals for diagnosis, treatment, and/or research. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist also performs other tasks such as administering contrast and ensures that patients/subjects and visitors are screened for MRI safety prior to performing MRI exams.

Duties & Responsibilities

Performs routine Magnetic Resonance Imaging exams and procedures
Utilizes department clinical protocols to obtain optimal quality imaging
Navigates electronic medical record and other information systems to process imaging
Performs venipuncture and contrast injection as required per scope of practice
Assists in training and education of MRI students
Participates in the enforcement of MRI safety practices
Provides technical assistance to researchers who are conducting MRI studies. .
Responds to patient, subject, and/or staff service and patient experience issues.
Adheres to regulatory standards such The Joint Commission, ACR, IDPH and Infection Control policy
Reports equipment failures and supply shortages as needed
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


High school graduate or equivalent.
Current/Valid registration or certification of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by either:
the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); OR
the American Register of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
