Job Description
Ipsen USA is the industry leader for versatile heat treatment systems and advanced process technology. Our advanced equipment is developed for Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Medical, Tool & Die, and other various industries across the globe.
- Reviews requisitions, identifies and negotiates with suppliers to obtain best price, availability, quality and delivery.
- Reviews production and project schedules and works closely with Production Control, Production to support material requirements of a highly dynamic manufacturing operation
- Reviews budgetary items for purchasing discrepancies.
- Selects products for purchase through knowledge, history, supplier profile, supplier survey and or engineering recommendation.
- Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
- Expedites critical build items and arranges deliveries.
- Maintains a 90% or higher (as set by department head) on-time average.
- Works with quality assurance to render disposition on defective parts and supplier feedback.
- Takes immediate action on those items which require supplier correction.
- Trains and/or mentors Junior Buyers. Supports and backfills for Junior Buyer during peak work load or vacations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as price vs. cost analysis, discounts, percentages, proportions, area, circumference, volume, metrics and interest. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables where limited standardization exists. Ability to determine the important from the insignificant and respond appropriately. Ability to interpret written, oral, diagramed instructions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures, blueprints, component specifications, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information via spreadsheets, and computer software.
- Ability to timely respond to questions from managers, production supervisors, production personnel and customers.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years prior experience working in the capacity of purchasing, production planning or similar experience required.
