JOB SUMMARY

Provides management and supervision necessary for Operations of the Engineering Department. Oversees all operations to keep facilities operational, code compliant and energy efficient. Performs budget preparation and maintains budget parameters.

Oversee 1.8 million square feet at the Hospital Campus as well as Twelve offsites. Oversee operations for all buildings and ensure compliance and budget are maintained. Responsible for eighteen operating budgets totaling over 5 million dollars.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

* Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.

Maintains building operating standards for efficiency, effectiveness and safety. Corrective and emergency repairs are done according to applicable code, regulations, policy and procedure.

Maintains documentation of records pertinent to review by ACHC, TJC, OSHA, IDPH, CMS, EPA, MFA and any regulation body where applicable.

Monitors energy usage trends and keeps abreast of new technology for energy efficiency improvements.

Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures related to the Engineering staff plant operation and safety.

Manage the operations of the Galter Life Center and ensures compliance with their MFA standards.

Participates in the Green Committee, the Water Management Committee, and the HVAC Committee Serve as the Infrastructure Branch Manager for HICS and Safety Management Program. Keep all building drawings in AutoCAD, update, and provide Life Safety Drawings for regulatory purposes. Participate in the Hospital Safety Committee and the Emergency Preparedness Committee. Responsible for environmental health and safety in conjuncture with nursing.

Other Functions
Assists the Vice President of Operations as necessary in projects, committees, special assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor degree or 8+ years in facilities management experience in lieu of degree required.
Prior leadership, project management, time management, scheduling skills required
Computer applications/CRT knowledge
Thorough comprehension of mechanical equipment
Ability to create and design AutoCad Drawings is a plus

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Valid Illinois Driver's License with satisfactory MVR result for the last 3 years.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
5-10 years prior experience in leadership capacity preferred

ENVIRONMENT
Primarily standing/walking throughout the day - 50%
Repetitive activities; computer tasks, writing of schedules, rounding through building
Exposed to: noise from boiler/power plant/mechanical rooms (60%), chemicals for cooling treatment (20%), airborne diseases during service calls to nursing units (10%), temperature variations (10%)
