Position Overview:
Project Controls Specialist is responsible for determining the Scope, Design, Build, Testing and Management of Automation Projects in Knapheide. Secures value added solutions by working with the internal stakeholders to build and implement automation. Must demonstrate proficiency in robots and/or PLC programming; mechanical automated and semi-automated solutions; layout definition; and integrator-plant relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Design & implement systems using best practices defined by Sr. Automation Engineer.
Implement robot and PLC standard programming architecture.
Assist in the development of architecture to lead to SCADA and Industry 4.0
Applies Troubleshoot and problem-solving techniques to address root causes.
Identifies feasible automation projects using experience and data-mining.
Understanding Of FMEA (Tolerance stack, Program Limitations, System Flexibility, Error Recovery)
Create, maintain and modify current robot or PLC programming.
Manages projects to upgrade or build new automation capabilities.
Creates automated system concepts and translates them to complete RFQs
Troubleshoot and improve quality, throughput and safety on automated processes.
Responsible for system testing in development & production environments.
Creation of project scope & requirements.
Manages an Automation team of 3-5 Personnel to accomplish given tasks or objectives.
Position Minimum Requirements:
Sc. in Electric, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial or 3+ Years experience with Industrial Automation
Rockwell Studio 5000 Logix Designer Certifications Level 1-5 Or Comparable coursework.
4+ Robotic Controls Certifications (Handling, Advanced TTP, DCS, Integration, 2D vision Preferred)
Solidworks Associate Certificate.
Roboguide or other automated simulation software expertise e.g. (Process Simulate, Delmia, RobCAD, etc.)
Project Management Certification or Previous Project Management Experience
Knowledgeable of manufacturing metal-mechanic best practices, including welding, cutting, forming, stamping and assembly.
Metrics driven, organized and task oriented.
Network Infrastructure Certification or experience in Networking.
Controls Wiring Certification or Equivalent Experience.
Expert level experience in Structured text or other programming language.
Ability to manage and lead projects, communicate progress, and manage project budget.
Advanced understanding of electrical design and ability to read, modify, and create electrical prints.
Physical/Mental Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position:
Normal standing, bending, walking or lifting ability associated with a manufacturing environment. Capable of working in an industrial manufacturing environment in proximity to sources of noise, weld flash, and metal dust. Must be capable of communicating verbally with individuals at all levels of the organization and have good critical reasoning, organization, and mechanical skills.
