The Senior Network Engineer provides crucial services related to supporting Medlines business. This covers datacenter, edge, cloud, security, telecom, and application delivery. The position requires a solution minded person with a deep proficiency in enterprise level network engineering. Additionally, effective collaboration and communication are essential for understanding technical capabilities and supporting the business.

 

** Please note, this position is REMOTE - however, the individual hired must reside in the Chicagoland area.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and responds to trouble tickets and works with end users through resolution as necessary.
  • Provides Tier III support, drives issues through closure; engage all appropriate cross-team resources.
  • Innovate, design, and implement various wireless network solutions, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability to meet evolving organizational connectivity requirements.
  • Responsible managing and enhancing Cisco Viptela Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SDWAN) solutions to optimize network performance, enhance security, and ensure efficient traffic management across distributed enterprise environments.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain networking solutions of Medlines LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDWAN, Azure Cloud and Network Security focused infrastructure.
  • Develop and recommend strategies for network growth and datacenter network security/enhancements by maximizing functionality of network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and firewalls.
  • Present innovative solutions to stakeholders and technical staff; participate in implementation resulting in a warm handoff to support.
  • Participate in regular meetings and conference calls with customers and I/S staff to help qualify opportunities and technical solutions for optimizing the network; drive design solutions through deployment.
  • Act as a point of escalation for other I/S teams regarding network infrastructure issues.
  • Assist with resolving issues even outside direct areas of responsibility.
  • Analyze performance data and metrics, identify problem areas, and provide actionable insight to problem resolution.
  • Perform complex and routine maintenance tests for designated areas of engineering; identify, isolate, and escalate issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Interface and communicate with senior and mid-level client leadership that may include technical presentations.
  • Participate in off-hours support rotation of designated network resources.
  • Well informed of information technology and applied research trends; develops and incorporates them into assignments where appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience providing technical leadership for network technologies in a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience implementing, administering and troubleshooting Cisco SDWAN Viptela.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in deploying, managing, and maintaining wireless infrastructure, including proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting various wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, LTE, and/or 5G.
