Job Description

Job Objective:
The Human Resources Generalist performs professional level human resources work and carries out responsibilities in all functional areas, such as, employee relations, compensation, training, recruitment, labor relations, safety & compliance to support and the ARC Command as well as 14 Centers in the Central Territory, ensuring that Salvation Army policy and applicable laws are adhered to.
Essential Functions:
Oversee Human Resources Department in absence of Director.
Investigates problems such as working conditions, disciplinary actions,  employee and applicant appeals and grievances.
Conduct new hire orientation for incoming ARC Command employees.
Assist the Director of HR with Compensation projects.
Assist in the preparation of department budgets.
Provide consultation, education, advice, and support to Center HR Coordinators, Administrators, and others on employee relations, counseling and discipline, policy and procedure, and general human resources inquiries and issues. Advise Center management on alternative solutions to employee relations issues.
Research and write and analyze new and existing job descriptions
Maintain listing of minimum wage by state and research future increases.
Assist HR Specialist as needed
Serve as backup for FMLA/PLOA/ADA requests from Centers.
Backup to questions and resolution on Workers Compensation situations.
Serve as main point of contact for MetLife death claims.
Oversee annual EEO-1 reporting process, ensuring accurate reports are filed  with the agency on a timely basis and all Territorial instructions are  followed.
Oversee entire pension process including running reports, ensuring accurate  contributions are submitted in a timely fashion as well as conducting  audits.
Conduct, lead or coach investigations or audits.
Provides other human resources services as needed.
Represent the Command, The Salvation Army, and the Human Resources  function with integrity and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have high level of computer skills and technical understanding of  software applications, especially Excel, email, calendar, payroll system and  database management, as well as Power Point and Word.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business, or Bachelor's Degree  in another field plus additional coursework in Human Resources along with  two to four years of experience as a Generalist or HR Assistant in a Human  Resources office, or an equivalent combination of education and  experience. Multi-state experience helpful.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills helpful.
Ability to communicate with coworkers, officers, Administrators, HR  Coordinators, members of the public, and employees in a professional and  respectful manner.
Strong attention to detail, well organized, and the ability to maintain strict  confidentiality.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with coworkers, the  public, and others at all levels.
Ability to make effective presentations to management and employees with  a high degree of professionalism and confidence.
Ability to present training programs for employees and others at a variety of  educational and experience levels. Ability to train, teach, instruct, and  explain.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects at  once.
Must possess good problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel from time to time throughout the Midwest.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Manage Human Resources Specialists in the absence of the Director.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
SHRM certification required.
