Job Description
SUMMARYThis role is key in the creation, development, maintenance, and review of non-bureau and bureau coverage forms and endorsements. In conjunction with Specialty Lines leadership, and collaboration with other key enterprise stakeholders, this position will help drive development and maintenance of new products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Take ownership of the entire Product Development process for Specialty Lines, including:
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, and Product Management for the development of new products and modifications to existing products.
- Review current policy forms and endorsements to analyze and identify potential unforeseen or unanticipated liabilities.
- Review forms for new products to identify gaps and limitations in proposed policy language.
- Research legal and statutory requirements by state for new and existing products.
- Maintain the Specialty Forms Library as well as the form's history repository.
- Work with Claims to ensure underwriters are kept apprised of potentially unforeseen or unanticipated liabilities due to policy form and endorsement language, as well as emerging claim and legal trends.
- Work with underwriters to ensure that Claims is kept apprised of new markets the Company is exploring, new risks the Company is considering, and new policy forms and endorsements the Company is developing.
- Organize Forms Committee meetings to discuss new forms and endorsements and modifications to existing forms and endorsements.
- Ensure impacted departments have input into and are aware of new or updated policy forms and endorsements.
- With OGC, coordinate responses to DOI & customer complaints with underwriting and compliance.
- Assist in the coordination of responses to external inquiries (including DOI) with regard to the Company's policy forms and endorsements.
- Assist OGC in coordinating expert testimony required of underwriters.
- Keep abreast of and provide guidance to Underwriting on relevant DOI bulletins.
- Assist Claims with their responses to various DOI inquiries with regard to claims and/or claims handling.
- Liaison with industry service bureaus (AAIS, ISO, MSO, etc.) to understand and develop new forms.
- Analyze and develop response to legal challenges to forms and policy language within the insurance market.
- In conjunction with Government Affairs, work with outside industry organizations (e.g. APCIA, WSIA, etc.) to advocate on behalf of the Company and the insurance industry.
- Advise Claims and Underwriting of industry trends or legislative changes that may impact underwriting and/or claims handling.
- Review recommended form and product changes to align with Specialty Lines strategic direction, recommend implementation options, and lead prioritization of coverage enhancements across the Division.
- In conjunction with Specialty Lines Leadership team and other key stakeholders, assist in the development and maintenance of new products - ensuring that staff prepares, monitors, evaluates, drafts, and obtains regulatory approval of rates, rules, and forms utilized by admitted and non-admitted products.
- Manages & leads the coordination of objection responses on admitted products filed within Specialty Lines.
- Syndication and communication of all updates to Specialty Lines leadership & partner
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in related field required. JD preferred.
- CPCU ARM preferred.
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in P&C Underwriting required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed both in the office and in the field with minimal hazards. Travel is required with occasional overnight stays. May be required to lift and carry computer equipment and other marketing promotional items weighing up to 35 lbs. Relocation may be necessary. Must possess a valid driver's license with a record that meets corporate standards.

Pay Range
Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $102,400 and $171,500.
