Position Summary
The primary function of this position is the administration of the School of Art gallery program. The mission of the School of Art galleries is to present a variety of programs in the visual arts, including exhibitions, symposia, lectures and other events in order to foster a discourse of work and ideas about issues and practices in contemporary art. The Jack Olson Gallery and Gallery 215N are professional and teaching galleries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
School of Art and Design Gallery Program
Work with the School of Art and Design Public Artistry and Scholarship Committee (PASC) to initiate, plan, and implement exhibitions in the Olson Gallery.
Work with PASC to initiate, plan, and implement program-driven exhibitions in the Annette and Jerry Johns Student Art Gallery and Gallery 215N.
Manage exhibitions schedule for the Annette and Jerry Johns Student Art Gallery and Gallery 215N in cooperation with the Graduate Program and PASC.
Teach professional practices and supervise student exhibitions.
Supervise Gallery Graduate Research Assistant.
Represent the SoAD on relevant CVPA and NIU committees.

Master's degree in Art.
Three (3) years of curatorial experience in an art museum, including expertise in preparation and installation.
Three (3) years of experience teaching at a college level.
