POSITION TITLE: MANAGER OF EPC (RENEWABLE ENERGY)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities: As Manager of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC): (1) Perform design, analysis, and construction of substations, solar arrays, battery energy storage projects, and transmission lines throughout the life cycle of Hecate Energy’s energy generation projects. (2) Facilitate the EPC of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects for Hecate Energy’s 40 GW development project pipeline. (3) Serve as lead engineer for electrical and civil designs from the project development to the project execution phases and create technical scopes of work for projects, including electrical engineering specifications, manage the construction of utility scale solar and battery storage projects, train project engineers and project managers, develop CAPEX project estimates, and maintain best-in-class relationships with critical materials vendors. (4) Perform construction contract bidding, evaluation, negotiation, and oversight for construction-ready solar and storage assets. Duties: (1) Support transmission interconnection requests across a portfolio of 20+ GW of solar projects, 5+ GW of battery storage projects, and 10+ GW of (early stage) offshore wind projects in coordination with senior management. (2) Perform load flow studies, using PowerWorld, PSS/e or other similar software, to determine the transmission takeaway capacity of specific sites the company identifies. (3) Identify constraints and competing generation in proposed project areas, and as appropriate, coordinate findings with the development team and management. (4) Advance technical deliverables, studies and one-line drawings required for placing an interconnection request with the respective regional transmission organization (RTOs) and/or independent system operator (ISOs) and serve as technical coordinator throughout the interconnection process. (5) Participate in conferences and forums to discuss technical concepts and challenges in the area of transmission. (6) Support and coordinate respective design and development activities through the review and implementation of electrical technical concepts, initiation of studies/specifications and oversight/review of third-party study, one-line diagrams and design/cost estimating deliverables. (7) Review all types of interconnection and transmission studies to understand impacts on project cost, schedule and operational characteristics. (8) Develop deep understanding of open access transmission tariffs, and other related tariffs, business practice manuals, transmission and distribution providers, RTOs and/or ISOs, including cost allocation, funding options, queue processing timelines. (9) Write Python code to automate processes for power flow studies. (10) Provide power systems design and support needed at Hecate and review electrical equipment specs for transformers and other electrical equipment utilized at company projects. (11) Develop scopes of work for and overseeing third party consultants’ support of transmission interconnection applications. (12) Develop and support initial project layouts and designs for interconnection and general civil and electrical design compliance. Develop CAD skills to perform this work.

 

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 1) Bachelor’s degree or its foreign equivalent in electrical engineering; 2) 5 years (60 months) of full-time post-baccalaureate power systems engineering experience in utility-scale solar project design and construction; 3) Experience must include: (a) collaborating with construction managers to address construction problem solving and issue resolution; (b) evaluating technical quotes from equipment vendors and identifying opportunities for value engineering; © writing and improving technical Scopes of Work; (d) performing relay protection and control engineering, including preparing detailed designs for high voltage substations; and, (e) training and leading junior engineers; 4) Demonstrable knowledge of: (a) change-order process and evaluation of construction design modifications; (b) project CAPEX estimation and schedule creation; © substation one-line and three-line diagrams; (d) AC & DC schematics and equipment wiring diagrams, relay settings, and calculations, control and relaying panel layouts; (e) SCADA and communications interfaces (RTUs, HMls, and IEDs); and, (f) cable size calculations (AC & DC loads and voltage drop, power losses, and sag tension); and 5) Familiarity with industry standard technologies (Autodesk, SAM, ETAP, CYMCAP, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Helioscope, PowerWorld, PVsyst, Python, and MATLAB).

 

RATE OF PAY: FULL TIME, $139,110 per year.
