Job Description
Senior Mechanical Engineer (VAVE) for Videojet Technologies, Inc. in Wood Dale, IL to provide new ideas and technical solutions for cost and reliability improvement (VAVE) on product identification products. Resolve specifications and requirements of legacy components and sub-systems. Verify project feasibility and plan project roadmap to deliver the solution. Design/Evaluate cost-effective product changes. Verify designs through the use of lab testing, analysis, and simulation tools. Develop effective test plan to validate design solutions. Work with regulatory agencies to ensure the compliance of product changes. Interact with manufacturing, procurement, tech support, and external suppliers and manufacturers.
Requires: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus four (4) years of experience in mechanical design, design improvement, validation test, and project management, and minimum 3 years’ experience in VAVE. Experience must include: Mechanical optical, thermal, fluidic systems and various manufacturing processes; Use electromechanical industrial equipment using pumps, motors, filters, and valves etc.; Product and component testing using lab devices to acquire mechanical and electrical measurements. Design and build test fixtures for testing; Plastic and metal component design for injection molding, casting, extrusion, and sheet metal forming; Prototype development, including 3D printing; Regulatory compliance requirements, and with ability to determine EMC/EMI, IP and UL tests, interpret the test results and identify root causes for improvement; Product coding equipment; system knowledge and operation of CIJ printer, TTO printer, TIJ printer, LPA/LCM printer and laser printer to prove design feasibility and problem troubleshooting; Identify innovative cost saving solutions, and shown ability to start project from feasibility assessment through production implementation, and develop strategy for project execution; and Communicate project information (plans, results, conclusions) and difficult ideas with global teams and international vendors/suppliers.
