Overview

TRC is a national engineering, consulting, and construction management firm that provides integrated engineering, consulting, and construction management services to the Environmental, Power, Oil - Gas, and Infrastructure markets.
We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic Civil or Mechanical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our growing Design Management Servicesteam in Chicago, IL. This role works closely with a diverse team of engineers, designers, and specialists to deliver projects to a variety of clients.
Responsibilities

Be involved in Civil/Mechanical Engineering related project aspects including studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Projects may include planning, modeling, and design of facilities such as water and wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, utilities (water transmission, gravity sanitary sewer mains, force mains, etc.), hydraulics and hydrology, drainage design, and locomotive maintenance systems (drop tables, sanding systems, cranes, etc.).
Be involved and understand in all project aspects including design/study development, Construction RFI-s/RFPs/Submittals, pay requests, and client meetings.
Ability to execute engineering best practices for civil or mechanical engineering projects for a wide variety of clients, adapting to new environments quickly.
Assist senior staff in the production of project plans, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, technical memorandums and cost estimates
Assist senior staff with construction management tasks such as material submittal reviews build reviews and coordination with Contractors
Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation and assessment for infrastructure projects
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, and other public agencies
Qualifications

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technician Certification.
0 - 3 years of related experience.
Active Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required or in the process of completing
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable
Physically able to perform work in the field
Able to travel frequently through the continental US - Canada
Preferred
Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS)
Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals.
Experience with Railroad Facilities projects.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
